Job Description

Mid-Level Litigation Associate | Hunt Hunt & Winterbottom LLP

Hunt Hunt & Winterbottom LLP is a full-service law firm concentrating in business litigation, corporate and M&A transactions, and real estate transactions and litigation. The firm is seeking a partner-track litigation associate with three to five years of experience who is eager to gain more courtroom experience on the firm’s diverse range of litigation matters.

In terms of billable expectations, the firm has an annual billable requirement of 1,500 hours and associates are paid a percentage of their billables in excess of 1,500 hours in addition to class and merit bonuses.

The associate position is fully remote with no rigid daily office requirements. Presently, the firm has offices in Orange County, California, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with plans to open an office in Downtown Los Angeles before the end of the year. As is the nature of the job, litigation associates must be available for in-person attendance as needed for court appearances, depositions, trials, and other occasional on-site obligations dictated by client and firm needs.

Required:

  • Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing with no disciplinary actions.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • At least three years of civil litigation experience.
  • Must have made at least one appearance in court at a proceeding other than a case management conference.
  • Must have taken at least one deposition.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize competing demands, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to pitch in with non-litigation billable matters when appropriate.
  • Fluency in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.

Preferred:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 law school.
  • First-chair trial experience.
  • Any amount of prior experience at an AmLaw 200 law firm.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
  • Admission to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
  • Admission to practice before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal.
  • Admission to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
  • Business-level fluency in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, or Vietnamese.
  • Moot court and/or mock trial experience.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $120,000 – $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Eligible for hours and merit bonuses.

Benefits:

  • Medical, dental and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer matching contributions.
