Job Title: Instructional Designer

Job Location: Laurel, MD

Hourly Rate: Up to $55hr depending on experience.

Work Schedule: 3 days/week onsite preferred, at minimum one day/week.

Job Summary:

• Come join our team! We currently have an exciting 6 Month+ Contract opportunity in Laurel, MD for an Instructional Designer with at least one year of experience using AI such as ChatGPT or other large language models (LLMs) to design and develop effective learning solutions to support various professional and leadership development topics . As a core team member, you will collaborate with team members and SMEs to follow the ADDIE model of instructional design and complete the effort.

Job Description:

• Your primary responsibility will be to design and develop learning solutions, enhancing instructional design processes, and using innovative tools for learning.
• The work that we’re doing is eLearning and creating in-person events and experiences for new hires in their first year.
• You will design, develop, and implement effective assessment and evaluation tools to identify gaps, demonstrate results, and support incremental improvements across the learning resources.
• You will follow the ADDIE model to design and develop learning solutions, using proven instructional design processes and appropriate tools for engaging experiences across multiple modalities.
• You will be a life-long learner and stay well-informed of adult learning theory, industry standard methodologies, and tools to advance the solutions provided.
• You will thoughtfully incorporate the use of artificial intelligence (AI) both in your development of materials and in learner application of content, as appropriate.
• You will form relationships and establish credibility to collaborate effectively with supervisors, team members, third-party vendors, and others.
• You will collaborate in the management and use of the learning management system (Saba) to support the access to and distribution of the learning resources you develop.

Required:

• Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in needs assessment, curriculum design and development, program evaluation methodologies, and eLearning or web-based resource development.
• Must have one or more years of experience using AI such as ChatGPT or other large language models (LLMs) for a supporting resource in the design and development of learning solutions and/or for learning applications.
• Experience building e-learning content is required.
• Demonstrate competency in Articulate Storyline and/or Rise , InDesign , Adobe Captivate , Camtasia , VR/AR tools , immersive training technologies , and/or have coding experience.
• Are articulate, in both verbal and written form, with excellent organization, administrative, and computer skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to develop learning experiences with the audience in mind, capturing their attention, encouraging their participation, and extending learning beyond the learning event.
• Demonstrate the ability to follow the ADDIE model (or equivalent) and to apply adult learning theory (andragogy).
• Are able to successfully work independently or across teams on multiple projects with overlapping time frames and shifting priorities.
• Can demonstrate strategy and innovation in learning solutions.
• Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills and the ability to overcome obstacles to reach a resolution.
• Can think proactively, identify problems and solutions, and exhibit a high level of awareness and initiative.
• Program management training.
• URLs or work samples are required.

Preferred:

• Have experience in developing learning materials that are 508 accessible.
• Have instructional design, instructor, or other certifications related to the field.
• Have experience collaborating with engineers and scientists in a technical, project-based environment.
• Have experience building out and managing training courses, records, and reporting in a learning management system, specifically Saba.
• Experience in employee experience or maybe event design with an overlap in instructional design or training development is a plus.

Education:

• Possess a bachelor's degree in Adult Learning, Leadership Development, Organization Development, Psychology, Human Systems, Instructional Systems Design (or related degree).
