Summary Job Summary Performs Monitor Technician duties and monitors patient’s cardiac rhythms under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Performs Health Unit Coordinator duties including medical record maintenance, order processing, typing, and/or word processing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit. Assists visitors, nursing staff, and members of the health care team. Assists in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Completes all other work related duties as assigned. Skills 1. Possesses basic computer knowledge and knowledge of medical terminology. 5. Organizational, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. 6. Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions. 16. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. 17. Possesses effective interpersonal relationship skills. 18. Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a nursing assistant and monitor tech. 19. Ability to detect abnormal cardiac monitor tracings for adult and pediatric patients. 20. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Work Experience Health Unit Coordinator or Monitor Tech. experience in a hospital setting preferred. License/Registration/Certification 1. Current CPR training required. 2. National Health Unit Coordinator certification preferred. Education and Training 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Completion of the UMC dysrhythmia course within 6 months of being in the position required. 3. Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position.
